After a more or less silent year since releasing the album “Reincarnation” back in November 2014, something is again happening here at the toscasound.com. New music is in the pipeline and along with that, there has been a some redesign of the website with new colors, graphical design etc. However, the biggest and most significant change is that Tosca is no longer called Tosca – the official artist name has been changed to Toscasound.
There are several reasons for this change to happen. Here are some key factors that I considered when making the change official:
- The style of my music has been changing lately from traditional trance-influenced stuff to more techno / breakbeat / underground-style. While the musical style can of course evolve without changing the name, I thought this would be a good point to make a change official given the other points below.
- I have already used the name “Toscasound” in many official channels, especially my Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud etc. accounts have already been using the name Toscasound. And of course, the official website domain name has also been toscasound.com right from the start.
- There are already quite a few artists called Tosca in the world of music, the most famous of them probably being the project by Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tosca_(band)). While I don’t think well-known professional artists really do mind if there is an unknown amateur artist with a similar artist name, it’s still an additional reason to differentiate a bit.
So, starting right now, everything I will release and do in the musical front will be under the name Toscasound. Old music, material etc. may still be found with the name “Tosca” for a while, depending how well I can change things in Google Play and other channels I have published material. All channels that have already used the name “Toscasound” will remain the same, although they will also get the redesign with new colors etc. in the coming days to go along with the new name and new upcoming material.
